Zoning Bylaw Amendments & Rezoning
The Zoning Bylaw sets out how land in the RM can be used and developed. If your plans don't fit the current rules, you can apply to have them changed. Council considers every application with the community's long-term growth and the Official Community Plan in mind.
What is the difference between a rezoning and a bylaw amendment?
- Rezoning changes the zoning district of a specific property on the zoning map. For example, it might change land from Agricultural to Country Residential so it can be subdivided for acreages.
- A zoning bylaw amendment changes the written rules in the Zoning Bylaw itself, such as setbacks, permitted uses, or development standards. It affects every property those rules apply to.
