Weeds & Spraying

The Rural Municipality of Estevan No. 5 is committed to controlling and managing noxious weeds within the municipality.

RM Spraying Program

The RM of Estevan No. 5 carries out weed spraying on RM owned land, rights-of-ways and ditches where required. Spraying is conducted as part of the RM’s weed control program and is intended to control designated noxious weeds located within these areas.

The RM does not provide weed spraying services on privately owned agricultural land, yards, pasture, acreages, or other private property.

What are landowners responsible for?

Landowners are responsible for controlling and spraying noxious weeds on their own land. This includes crop land, pasture, yards, acreages and other privately owned property.

Landowners are encouraged to check their property regularly and control weeds before they flower and spread.

Where noxious weeds are identified on private property, the landowner or occupant may be contacted by the Weed Inspector and may be required to take appropriate action in accordance with The Weed Control Act.

SARM Invasive Plant Control Program

SARM offers a rebate for noxious weed control, please contact the office at 306-634-2222 to see if you are eligible.

Agricultural Producers

Agricultural producers must purchase the appropriate herbicide for leafy spurge and absinthe and participate in the SARM Invasive Plant Control 50:50 Rebate Program.

How it works:

• Complete the Forms
• Bring completed forms to the RM office and the RM submits on your behalf
• Receive a 50% rebate from SARM on chemical that is used in 2026 (labour costs are not eligible)
• Receive an extra 50% reimbursement from the RM of Estevan on the remaining 50% not rebated by SARM. (labour costs not eligible)
